Competitive sport in the St. Leon-Rot Golf Club: the best infrastructure conditions
Promoting golf is one of the top priorities of the St. Leon-Rot Golf Club. In order to provide the young talents and members with the best possible framework for this objective, innovative training facilities have been built over the years.
At the end of 2016, the foundation stone was laid for another construction project that is unique in Germany.
A new exercise arsenal, the "Wedge-o-Drom", has been created on the facility on a total area of over 20,000 square meters.
And the name says it all: all strokes on a green between one and 130 meters can be trained here, which is made possible in particular by the extensive undulations of the over 100 meters long green. Special game elements are steep-walled bunkers based on the Scottish model, which present the player with challenges up to two meters high.
The practice area of the Wedge-o-Drom, with a 3,200 square meter green and 20,000 square meter undulating surrounding area, is complemented by a 1,800 square meter chipping green - also elaborately undulating to enable any chip. This green also has strong undulations in order to be very variable in difficulty. The third newly created green is intended exclusively for training from five likewise newly created bunkers of different degrees of difficulty.
A very special highlight on the Wedge-o-Drom is a floodlight system that enables training in the late evening hours and in winter.
